Run analysis can be placed into two categories, Basic and Derived.
Basic Analysis
Basic analysis creates high level raw data that is subsequently fed into the AI planning engine. This includes recorded data streams, such as the velocity or heart rate trace of the entire activity.
Derived Analysis
Derived analysis is performed upon the results of Basic Analysis to provide higher level summary metrics that are informational to humans. Examples being: run classification; physiological load; aerobic quotient; workout adherence. Derived metrics can be seen as summary values used in standard sports science to try to aid in plan generation, but whilst common rules around their use might work sometimes, they are not ubiquitously applicable – and often have no clear evidence for any use.
